Gracias a un comentario de K en la entrada dedicada al misterioso zumbador de la UVB-76, me enteré ayer que, durante este mes de agosto, supuestamente, la emisión habitual de la misteriosa emisora ha sido interrumpida como mínimo en tres ocasiones.

Durante estas tres interrupciones, una el día 23 y dos el 25, se habrían emitido tres nuevos mensajes hablados, distintos de los anteriores, pero igual de crípticos.

Para oir, atender uno de estos mensajes y para saber más, no os perdáis “UVB 76 muy activa” en el blog “Bertrand Rusell y su conjunto tropical”. Los otros dos, los podéis oir, atender en el artículo de la wikipedia sobre la emisora, que ya ha sido actualizado con los nuevos acontecimientos.

De momento aparte de varios blogs, gizmodo.com, wired.co.uk y el periódico ABC se han hecho eco de la noticia. Me hubiera gustado poder encontrar alguna otra fuente más para confirmar las emisiones, pero, de momento, me ha resultado imposible.

De ser ciertas algunas de las peores teorías conspirativas sobre la emisora, quizás tendríamos motivos para estar preocupados. Aunque también podría ser sólo una broma de alguien aburrido Seguiremos a la escucha de lo que pasa durante los próximos días.

PS: Precisamente, a principios de agosto recibí un correo de Miguel Ángel A. contándome que, después del intercambio de espías entre norteamericanos y rusos del pasado 9 de julio en Viena, Radio Praga había informado que las emisiones de la UVB-76 habían cesado durante dos semanas. Es un modelo que dispone de los últimos avances en cuanto a tecnología. Al mismo tiempo, los rascacielos giratorios nos suenan a construcción futurística, o al menos, de vanguardia como la Sky Tower de Auckland, que también cuenta con su restaurante giratorio.

Lo cierto, es que contradiciendo nuestros preconceptos, un restaurante giratorio, no es un adelanto propio de la modernidad. Al menos así lo demostraron un grupo de arqueólogos franceses que hace un tiempo descubrieron lo que creen, era un restaurante giratorio que funcionaba como uno de los comedores del emperador romano Nerón. Hablamos de un comedor que data de los años 54 a 68 después de Cristo, en donde posiblemente, se realizaron fiestas y reuniones que habrán dado mucho que hablar por entonces.

El hallazgo fue realizado en una colina del Palatino, en una excavación realizada por un equipo del Centre Camille Julian. El restaurante giratorio, se deduce por la forma redonda de la construcción, en cuyo interior se encontraron restos de pilares de ladrillos que posiblemente sostenían un techo de madera con un sistema hidráulico que hacía girar la plataforma.

Se trata al menos de una gran curiosidad y hasta una innovación, que antedecería a muchos de los restaurantes giratorios con fines turísticos de la actualidad. Por su parte, se dice que el primer restaurante giratorio de la actualidad se creó en la parte superior de un edificio de oficinas en Honolulu en el año 1961. Aunque existe controvercia sobre otro restaurantes en Dortmund, Alemania, en servicio desde el año 1959. Al parecer, tuvieron que pasar casi 2.000 años para retomar la idea.
