Muchas veces vemos a personas mayores, que ya lejos de tener obligaciones diarias con respecto a lo laboral, se dedican a viajar y conocer lugares lejanos.

Debido a ello, y para favorecer a aquellos sectores de la sociedad con menores recursos, el Ayuntamiento de Villaquilambre firmó un convenio con el Instituto de Mayores y Servicios Sociales,con el fin de  ofertar viajes y vacaciones en la región.

La misma Concejala de Bienestar Social, Pilar Reguero, se ha encargado de recibir a las personas que solicitan las vacaciones del Imserso para la temporada 2008-2009, y se está encargando de distribuirlos en las plazas habilitadas para tal fin.

Para la temporada 2008/2009, se han concedido 190 plazas, ubicadas en  Canarias, Portugal, Baleares y Península; Salou, Benidorm, Torremolinos, Roquetas de Mar y La Manga.

Sin lugar a dudas que es un interesante aliciente para los abuelos que están deseosos de conocer otros lugares, además el plan incluye interesantes descuentos para cada uno de los solicitantes, de acuerdo a sus posibilidades económicas.
