Borgoña
Borgoña es una región histórica de Francia, habitada en orden cronológico por celtas, galos, romanos, galo-romanos y varios pueblos germánicos.
Borgoña fue una provincia de Francia hasta 1790. Hoy en dÃa es un región de Francia.
Este extenso dominio de grandes vinos fue por 600 años un reino independiente, en algunas épocas fue tan poderoso como Francia misma, gozando de su auge en siglo XV. Sin embargo a través de una historia tempestuosa, los viñedos de Borgoña sobrevivieron en parte gracias al gran conocimiento, diligencia y al buen gusto de sus mojes. Varias de las órdenes poseyeron viñedos extensos a través de la región, entre ellos los Caballeros de Malta, Cartesianos, Carmelitas y, lo más importantes, los Benedictinos y Cistercienses. Consecuentemente los 210km de longitud de Borgoña se tapiza de abadÃas, monasterios y un sin número de bellas iglesias románicas, sobre todo en Fontenay, Vézelay, Tournus y Cluny. Hay también muchos castillos fortificados. La ciudad de Dijon, famosa por su mostaza, fue de gran importancia polÃtica y religiosa durante el siglo XV, tiene además un Museo de Bellas Artes muy completo, asà como una Catedral del siglo XIII y un Palacio Ducal que fue residencia de los antiguos Duques de Borgoña. Otros pueblos bonitos en esta región son Sens y Macon, los dos tienen bellas iglesias del siglo XII.
